About Me
Hello there. I’m Equestrian Maria Celaya, and I’m excited to share my story with you. As an equine photographer based in the scenic landscapes of Arizona, I specialize in Horse and Rider, Black Background, Fine Art, and Unicorn Sessions. I’ve found my true calling in capturing the beauty and profound bond between these majestic creatures and their human companions.
My journey into full-time photography began in 2009, when I started out as a family and children photographer. This was a pivotal moment as I sought to pursue my innate passion for visual art, having been drawn to the world of imagery and storytelling. Prior to this, I was a veterinarian technician for 8 years, a career path that laid the groundwork for my deep appreciation and understanding of these magnificent animals.
It wasn't until 2013, when I first mounted a horse, that I truly felt the spark ignite within me. Growing up with an insatiable love for horses despite not being around them, finally having the opportunity to ride one stirred something profound in my soul. I went on to become the proud owner of an Off-Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) named Fratello in 2016. Little did I know that this spirited equine would become the muse that inspired my transition into equine photography.
Since then, my photography journey has been shaped by a deep desire to elevate the beauty and grace of these lovely creatures through my lens. Whether it’s the gentle connection between a rider and their steed or the raw beauty of a horse against a striking black backdrop, I strive to immortalize the essence of each moment through images that reflect emotion, companionship, and pure admiration.
